What is Photoderm?

Photoderm is a non-invasive medical system that uses light therapy to eliminate a number of benign vascular and pigmented lesions including:

  • varicose veins
  • acne spots
  • spider veins
  • port wine stains
  • freckles
  • age spots
  • moles
  • tattoos

How does Photoderm work?

Photoderm generates intense light pulses, similar to the flash of a camera, which safely destroy unsightly blood vessels so they fade and slowly disappear. Treatment is applied by placing a hand-held treatment unit on your skin. Since the procedure in non-surgical, no anesthesia or pain medication is required. A slight pinch or "rubber band" snap may be felt during the procedure.

How many Photoderm treatments are required?

Each session lasts about 15-20 minutes and blemishes usually clear after one or two treatments depending on the severity and the density of the vessels.

Are there any side effects?

Minimal side effects may include slight reddening or local swelling of the skin which goes away within a few days.

What about recuperation time?

Work and regular activities may be resumed immediately after treatment. However, extensive sun exposure should be limited.

Is Photoderm the best treatment method?

Photoderm uses patented technology that allows your doctor to customize the treatment specifically to your skin type and blemish. This tailored approach cannot be achieved with any other non-invasive method currently available.

Am I a candidate for Photoderm?

Most people, including children, may be treated with Photoderm. A consultation visit with your doctor is the best way to determine the suitability for your specific needs.
